Youths Empowerment

GWI mobilizes young people to encourage them to take charge of themselves. We empower them through:

  1. Psychological support; guiding them on knowledge and awareness about challenges they face and how to find solutions.
  2. Economic empowerment; introducing them to entrepreneurship skills and economic development
  3. Community involvement; providing leadership skills for them to participate in community programs.
  4. Social and cultural support; through activities that redefine their cultural norms and how they can actively participate in the community.
  5. Literacy; we create resources that support their literacy needs.
  6. Organization; organizing them through unions, associations, and SACCOS aiming to protect and advocate for their worth.

19 years old Gimbo Elizabeth is one of the beneficiaries. She is so active in entrepreneurship skills. She took the lead to manage GWI  tomato demonstration garden because her interest was to start a tomato business. She now owns her own tomato business at her home compound. Gimbo’s business is now giving her income to help her sick mother. But her main aim is to make more money enough for her to go back to school

Emma and David were among the first youths in Bukomolo village to register in the youth program. They work on the hand tractor. GWI through the Agriculture Project is bringing together youths to facilitate them with equipment to use and earn an income. This is helping to increase food production in their homes and at the same time to shape them into useful citizens and make their villages safer even for generations to come. Get their story
