Operation Beautiful Feet builds GWI Chicken House

It was all joy on Tuesday to see the president of Operation Beautiful Feet from the United States of America come to Bukomolo village and officially opened the first chicken house which was built with funds from her organization.

 

Joy Griffin said that her organization’s investment to GWI poultry farming is to provide a promising solution to future sustainability of projects especially Bukomolo Clinic with a goal to stock medicines, pay staff salaries and as well to provide nutrition food to patients and at the same time fostering economic growth in the region.

 

The current stock is SASSO which are scavenging birds. But a plan is to upgrade to deep-liter birds.

The new house has eco friendly ventilation and can accommodate approximately 1500 birds. Future target is to expansion to up-to 10,000 birds and will have a separate area for incubation, sick bay, store for feeds & pharmacy, security/house and office.

 

The farm aims not only to provide poultry products but a model for vocational training, resources and income hub to the community and as well can be replicated in other communities.
