The overwhelming cases of diarrhea in Bukomolo community are raising concern. The month of February alone, about 75% of daily patients’ visits at Bukomolo Clinic suffered from diarrhea and they were mainly children between 02-15 years.
The clinic has set up a free routine de-warming exercise and the local leaders have joined to mobilize their communities to bring children. So far, over 1000 children in and around Bukomolo villages have been given Albendazole.
Because rains have started, there is fear diarrhea cases may increase. The main cause is poor hygiene and sanitation.
The clinic has also started to organize local leaders, school heads and churches to sensitize these communities on proper food storage, general hygiene around their homes, boiling of drinking water and proper garbage disposal which lack in their communities
