Asked her the year she was born & said September 13, 1956. But she says, this year 2023 is her first birthday. “Today, I count my first year, the year I am learning to grow alone just as a toddler can be” she said.
Her name is Mary Munghono. Her husband died last year. “I lived with my husband for 49 years. But I realize all these years, I was like a fetus right in his womb. Living without him for now one year is by God’s grace. Our love was one & so, I thank God so far for this one year of my new life.”
This day is not only her birthday but also so her wedding anniversary!
Mary is the pastor of Bukomolo Christian Fellowship Church (BCF).
This church is the conduit of GWI entry to Bukomolo community. In 2015, BCF mobilized community elders & local leaders to pray for the needs of the community which were communicated to GWI. Healthcare was picked and in 2016 GWI built Bukomolo health facility. Her husband late Patrick Munghono donated 1 acre of land where the clinic was built.
Mary is also the mother to GWI CEO Grace Nakajje.
Today, GWI has several programs in Bukomolo community; youth, children, & women programs, and then agriculture projects.
